Kara Zorn on June 15, 2014 14 Comments There are plenty of ice makers on the market, but here are the top 5 our customers rave about: 1. EdgeStar Portable Stainless Steel Ice Maker (IP210SS) This unit is beloved and has been a top seller for us since it was introduced. It makes ice quickly, and its compact size allows you to take it with you virtually anywhere. Because this is a portable unit, there is no water line or drain line required. Just fill it up with water, select your ice size, and you are good to go. Not only do our customers love this ice maker, but it has been awarded a "Best Pick" by Bestcovery. 2. EdgeStar Portable Stainless Steel Clear Ice Maker (IP211SS) I know you are thinking this is similar to the previous unit, and it is. However, it has one major difference – it makes clear, cubed, restaurant-quality ice. Many people love clear ice in their drinks because it is tasteless and odorless. Most portable ice makers do not make clear cubed ice, making this model a unique crowd favorite. It gives you that clear cubed ice you crave in a conveniently compact countertop unit. Plus, the attractive stainless steel exterior looks great in any room. 3. EdgeStar 12 Pound Built In Ice Maker (IB120SS) What makes this unit a customer favorite is its convenience. This is a built in ice maker, which means it can be installed under a kitchen counter or bar; however, unlike a lot of built in ice makers, it does not require a drain. It makes up to 12 pounds of crescent shaped ice per day and has a bin that will hold 6 pounds of ice. Plus, with its stainless steel door and finished black cabinet, this ice maker can be used a freestanding unit as well. 4. EdgeStar Undercounter Clear Ice Maker (IB450SS) Dollar for dollar, this is one of the best and most affordable ice makers available. First, it makes 45 pounds of clear restaurant-quality ice per day and stores 22 pounds of ice inside the bin. The stainless steel door and finished black cabinet make it the perfect addition to any kitchen, home bar, or game room. Finally, this ice machine comes with everything you need to get started, including a water line, drain line, storage bin, and ice scoop. 5. Ice-O-Matic 85 lb. Nugget Ice Machine (GEMU090) This is the ice machine the market has been clamoring for – an ice maker that will make Sonic style nugget ice at home. Nugget ice is great in drinks and is a favorite among ice chewers. The GEMU090 can be installed undercounter but also has a finished sides and an attractive stainless steel door so that you can use it in a free standing application. The machine makes 85 pounds of nugget ice per day and stores 22 pounds in its storage bin. Plus, this ice machine is approved for outdoor use, so you can put it in your outdoor kitchen or patio.

Philip says September 1, 2014 at 8:59 am Looking for ice machine with ( sonic ice ), that will fit in side a cabinet with cabinet door shut. My max opening is 17″W x 22 1/2″H x 22 1/2″D. Being behind the cabinet door would allow any finish on the machine. Reply
laura walker says April 23, 2015 at 10:33 pm I am looking for the same kind as 2. Phillip. I want to get Sonic Drive In ice. It is the same kind at Baylor Hospital Downtown Dallas, Texas. It is heavenly ice. I used to buy it by the bag but too much melts before I get home. What kind of ice does that Edstar IP 120SS make? Reply

Carol Pursley says March 22, 2016 at 11:04 pm I take ice chests to Sonic’s Drive-in and have them filled with their wonderful “Sonic ice” several times a week. I am totally addicted to their ice with raspberry instant tea. I would also love to buy a counter top ice maker which makes the same ice. Reply
