Karen Wiggins on July 13, 2016 7 Comments The Best Pressure Cooker on the Market? Table of Contents Get to Know the Unit List of Features Customer Reviews What I Liked About It What I Didn’t Like About It Specs & Warranty Info With a long history dating back to the 17th century, pressure cooking is a very popular method in which you can quickly cook your food. This method works by using a vessel that is completely sealed, trapping both liquid and air inside the device. As the cooker starts to heat up, the water inside slowly starts to boil and, ultimately, turns into steam. As the steam starts to build, the pressure inside the device starts to climb and will rapidly cook the food inside. While this style of cooking has been around for centuries, the method itself has continued to evolve and improve as the years roll by. Pressure cookers have been proven to cook food at a much faster rate than you could ever do with a cooktop or oven, with the Power Cooker XL touting a 70% quicker cooking rate. Not to mention the nutritional benefits of using a pressure cooker. The vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients are retained in the food. In other words, it is a healthy, quick and wonderful way of cooking a wide variety of different meals. I recently got my hands-on one of the most popular pressure cookers out there, the Power Pressure Cooker XL (6-Quart). To help you decide if this is the best pressure cooker for your lifestyle, I wrote out a full review on my experience. Meet the Power Pressure Cooker XL Essentially, this is a digital pressure cooker. What drew me to it is that it claims to be a “one button, one pot kitchen miracle”, which sounded pretty cool. It can basically help you to prepare various slow cooked meals, taking only a very short period of time. Sporting the “As Seen On TV” tagline, the Power Pressure Cooker XL has been advertised on television for years now, so it is reasonably well known and has a pretty large following of devoted fans. Designed to help you to create delicious meals with a simple press of a button, the Power Pressure Cooker XL has been shown to cook 70% faster than other methods. Not only do you save time and energy, you also get the added convenience of being able to cook healthy meals at a relatively quick pace. Something every family needs. If you have ever seen the devices television advertisement, you will know just how good it sounds on paper. It claims to help you make home-cooked, delicious and healthy meals in a matter of minutes. It is nothing short of a very compelling advertisement, in other words. Admittedly, I was skeptical. Seemed too good to be true. The device comes with Flavor Infusion technology, which means super-heated steam is trapped inside the pot. This then forces moisture into the food itself, locking in the nutrients and intense flavors. Plus, it is an intuitive, intelligent, easy to use device so it truly is perfect to cook things like fish, meat, beans, vegetables, soup, rice, stews, and so on. My personal favorite feature is how much time you can save on your food prep. Because you can put all the ingredients in a single pot, the Power Cooker XL helps you to save a great deal of time on prepping. It has a pre-set operation button, which means you can turn on your cooker, choose the setting you need, and leave. You only need a single appliance to cook delicious meals, allowing you to save energy by using fewer appliances, as well as a ton of time cleaning up. Furthermore, you have control over the pressure in the device, ranging from 10 to 80 kPa, which means you can also saute and brown your food, and you can use it to cook any type of fruit or vegetable. Once the food is ready, it automatically shifts to the ‘keep warm’ mode. This means your food will stay warm without cooking it. The cleanup afterwards is a breeze as well, because of the nonstick inner pot that can easily be removed and is fully dishwasher safe. List of Features: The Power Pressure Cooker XL comes with a number of cool features, including: It has a 6 quart capacity, but also available in 8-Quart or 10-Quart. Cooks your food 70% faster than other types of cooking methods. It comes with a digital display panel and many preset cooking options. It has stainless steel housing. The unit is dishwasher safe. The lid is made from reinforced glass, comes with a safe lock, and has a built-in steam ledge. You get a nice recipe book with your purchase, as well as a canning guide. It comes with a power chopper. Customer Reviews This device has been available for quite some time, which means it has received a lot of reviews. One of the things that really stand out is the fact that many people who wouldn’t class themselves as good cooks have purchased the device and found it incredibly beneficial. In fact, one review I read told the tale of a man who was starting to feel embarrassed about the fact that he never cooked at home, bought the Power Pressure Cooker XL to surprise his wife with a cooked meal, and has since become the head chef in his home. While this is quite the tale, it does lend to how easy this pressure cooker is to use. What people mention most frequently is that it is incredibly easy to use. The manual explains everything in great details, particularly if you also follow the recipes that have been provided with it. It provides a step by step approach that means literally nothing can go wrong. But, don’t take my word for it, see what others are saying. As I write this review, there are nearly 1,400 reviews with 69% of reviewers giving it either 4 or 5 stars. Click here to read all of the customer reviews on Amazon. What I Liked About the Power Pressure Cooker XL The pressure cooker is designed to cook things incredibly quickly. Whether or not it is truly 70% quicker, from my own personal use, it does cook rather fast. And saving time and energy, but still getting healthy foods, that’s something that we can all use. It is really easy to operate, particularly if you follow the instruction booklet and recipes. It comes with keep warm and slow cook options, a must-have for many meals. It is well built and has a solid construction. What I Didn’t Like About the Power Pressure Cooker XL Although it is dishwasher safe, it can be quite hard to clean. It takes quite some time for the pressure to build up, which you do have to add to overall cooking time. The recipes often don’t take this into consideration. The Final Verdict The Power Pressure Cooker XL is a really good pressure cooker and it is hard to be good in a field that is as crowded as the pressure cooker one. This particular device has a number of excellent features that make it stand out from its competition, and it is incredibly easy to use. In fact, people with little-to-no cooking experience whatsoever can still use it by following the step by step instructions. This is why it is also a very popular device with parents who want to give their kids something to take with them when they go to college. All in all, the Power Pressure Cooker XL is an excellent addition to any kitchen. Whether you’re looking for a simple way to cook healthy meals, or just want to save some time, this pressure cooker is one of the best units to do this. Veronica says November 27, 2018 at 3:23 pm I have a 12qt. Will they ever offer a Stainless Steel Insert for it that you can purchase separately? I had to purchase the Instant Pot because of its Stainless steel insert. Would love to use the 12qt. again, but the Teflon has wore out and I don’t want Teflon leeched into my food😔 Reply

M Quagliano says January 4, 2019 at 9:52 am Don’t recommend it. The lining inside the inner pot started peeling after using it less than 10 times. Unfortunately it was out of warranty. Reply
BEVERLY WATKINS says December 25, 2019 at 8:40 am I purchased a 6 Quart Power Pressure Cooker XL from a place at the Mall. They were going out of business, so if there are problems I will need to go to the Company for some help. This is a Fusion Life Brands. Sounds like there could be problems with it from previous comments. Reply
